CDIP Buoy Recovery FAQ
The buoy may have it's mooring still attached. This could be up to 2 times the depth. Boat operator should be aware.
If not a safety concern and if possible, save any attached mooring so we may determine point of failure.
Do not to spin the buoy. This will damage the sensors and is the reason it has an anti-spin triangle attached.
Try not to tip over the buoy.
The buoy weighs approximately 500 pounds.
Do not lift by top hatch cover handles. They will break off. Lift by the welded handles on the hull (best) or triangle.
If towing, tow at a max of 3knots.
Latest gps positons are updated every 30 minutes when the buoy calls in.
