SPECTRUM PLOT

A single spectral wave record contains energy density and mean wave direction for each frequency bin. (For example, see this detailed listing of our CDIP spectral file). The first frame plots energy density versus frequency and the second plots mean wave direction versus frequency. Notice that there is a scale for both frequency in Hz (bottom axis) and period in seconds (top axis).
